Two hours of quad riding on the valleys' dirt tracks around sunset. Safety briefing, helmet and a small group of up to 8 included.

The first thing you hear when the quad's engine starts is the end of silence. The second is the slight resistance of the throttle against your thumb, and the third is the dirt track in front of you curling away into the valley. The sunset ATV safari shows Cappadocia from places neither a walk nor a minibus can reach, through dust and speed.
The group is at most 8 people, and each ATV carries one driver and, if you like, a passenger. The ride lasts about two hours. A helmet and a safety briefing are included, and hotel pick-up and drop-off are free.
First comes a short safety briefing: throttle, brake, cornering and hand signals. Then you take a practice lap in a closed area; ten minutes is usually enough to get used to the machine. Drivers must be 16 or older. No driving licence is asked for on the off-road track, but listening to the briefing and following the guide's instructions is a must. The guide leads, an assistant brings up the rear, and nobody is left outside the group.
Every ATV has a driver, and anyone who likes can ride behind as a passenger; children aged 7 and over may ride behind an adult driver. Driving means the throttle and the steering are in your own hands, and you feel the valley's rhythm through your fingertips. Riding as a passenger means sitting back and focusing on the view, the light and the photographs. Couples often swap halfway. After a short check for safety, the guide decides who rides which machine.
The route follows dirt tracks through the valleys around Göreme. At one point you pass through a narrow gap with tuff walls rising on both sides; the next, the track opens and you emerge on a wide field beside vineyards. This is not a race: the group moves at the guide's pace, with some sections slow and demanding and others open and fast. We rate it "moderate" because it isn't physically tiring but needs attention throughout. Dust is unavoidable, and on dry days a cloud rises behind the quad in front. The guide keeps distances and swaps the order to keep it to a minimum.
Two or three short breaks are made along the way. One is for the view from a hilltop, another for the sunset itself. When the sun leans into the valleys, the tuff rocks first turn pink, then copper, then deep violet. The sudden quiet after you switch the engine off is one of the evening's best moments: you hear your own breathing, the earth cooling and a dog barking far away. Light and temperature change quickly, so bring a jacket. In summer the tour starts late and the heat drops toward sunset, so the valley cools in an instant; in winter the tour is brought forward, the air chills fast and you need to take care on the dirt track after sunset. After spring rain the tracks are sometimes muddy, which makes the ride a lot more fun and a lot dirtier.
Drivers need both hands on the handlebars and passengers a firm hold, so save photos for breaks. Zip your phone into a pocket so bumps can't shake it loose. Dust is a lens's enemy: pocket the phone when not shooting and wipe the lens at each stop. With the low sun behind you, the dust from the quad ahead becomes a golden curtain; once the engines stop and it settles, catch that light. At the sunset stop, wait for the rocks to go pink, then copper, and for the horizon's softer colours after sunset. For video, hold the phone sideways and tuck your elbows in; short steady clips beat long shaky ones. With friends, photograph each other at the break, helmets on and faces dusty: the most honest pictures. The guide knows the best vantage point, so stand where they ask.
We don't recommend this tour for pregnant women, anyone with serious back or neck problems or cardiovascular conditions, and children under 7. The ride is bumpy and some sections need sudden braking. If you aren't sure about your health, write to us on WhatsApp before booking.
A vehicle collects you at your hotel. Times shift with sunset; what you see here is a sample timeline.
You get a helmet and, if needed, a bandana. The guide pairs drivers and passengers.
Throttle, brakes, cornering and hand signals are explained. Passengers aged 7 and over are seated.
A short lap in a closed area to get used to the machine. The guide checks everyone one by one.
Dirt tracks, narrow gaps and open fields. The group moves in single file at the guide's pace.
Engines off, a break in front of the view. This is the best moment for photographs.
Back at base, helmets are returned. A vehicle takes you to your hotel; about three hours from hotel to hotel.
Closed shoes, long trousers, a top layer that holds off dust, sunglasses, a bandana or neck buff. It can get cool toward evening, so bring a thin jacket. Bring spare lenses if you wear contacts.
No payment is taken when you send a booking request; you pay on the day, in cash (EUR, USD, TRY) or by card. Requests are usually confirmed within 1–2 hours and always within 24 hours. Drivers must be 16+ and passengers 7+; children under 7 cannot take part. No licence is asked for on the off-road track, but the briefing is compulsory. Anyone who has been drinking alcohol will not be allowed on a quad. We do not recommend the tour for pregnant women or anyone with serious back or neck problems. If weather (rain, strong wind, ice) is unsuitable, the ride is moved to another day for safety. Groups are up to 8, and times shift with sunset.
Ride timed to sunset (roughly 15:00–18:30 by season); pick-up time confirmed the evening before. Pick-up and drop-off are free. The total time from hotel to hotel is about three hours. We send your pick-up time on WhatsApp the evening before.
Hotel pick-up (Göreme, Uçhisar, Çavuşin, Ortahisar, Ürgüp, Avanos)Open in mapsNo licence is asked for on the off-road track. You do need to be 16 or older, listen to the safety briefing and follow your guide's instructions to drive.
Children aged 7 and over can ride as passengers behind an adult driver. Anyone under 16 cannot drive.
On dry days, yes; dust rises behind the quad in front. The guide keeps distances and swaps the order. A bandana and sunglasses are usually enough.
Light rain usually doesn't stop the tour, but if the ground gets slippery we'll move it to another day for safety or refund it.
No; you take a practice lap in a closed area first and the speed follows the group. Most people feel at ease within ten minutes.
You can cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before the tour. No-shows are not refunded. If we cancel because of weather, we'll either move the tour to another day with you or refund it.
